A Spirituality for the Second Phase of Life

Richard Rohr, an American Franciscan priest, says we have two tasks in life: the first is to build our identity and the surrounding container that holds our lives, the second to fill that container with meaning. Many devote their lives to the first task, never getting to the second, perhaps never knowing this second task exists. Often, we stumble and fall before we realize a larger purpose to life and our role fulfilling it. Exploring Rohr’s ideas provides a mirror for personal reflection.
