AUUF Bridge Lay Ministry Program

Dear Members of the Auburn Unitarian Universalist Fellowship,

We are excited to announce the launch of the AUUF Bridge Lay Ministry Program (BLMP), an initiative that will serve as a cornerstone of our shared congregational ministry.

The AUUF Bridge Lay Ministry Program is designed to enhance the work of our professional minister and advance the AUUF mission by serving as a vital bridge between the congregation and the professional minister. After formal training, lay ministers will play pivotal leadership roles in Sunday services, pastoral care, membership programs, adult education, and social action leadership. Participants in the BLMP will be equipped with the skills and knowledge necessary to support these efforts through dedicated education and training.

Program details include:

  • Training Duration: Six months (January – June 2025).
  • Education and Training Meetings: To be held monthly on the 4th Sunday from 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the fellowship.
  • Support Meetings: To be conducted monthly via Zoom during the training period.
  • Instructional Materials and Format: Rev. Keller will lead instruction with the assistance of guest speakers/ministers. There will be assigned course book(s) and other readings for information and reflection and practice ministry activities.
  • Commitment: A two-year term of service is encouraged following the training period.
  • Eligibility: Applicants must be members of AUUF for at least one year.
  • Process for Application and Approval: Applicants will submit applications which will be reviewed by Rev. Keller and the Committee on Ministry (CoM).  Applicants will be asked to complete an interview with Rev. Keller and the CoM.

We invite AUUF members who feel called to serve in this capacity to apply. The BLMP offers a unique path for spiritual growth and leadership while fostering the community spirit that is the foundation of our fellowship and its mission. In addition, regardless of the level of professional ministry we have, we will have trained leaders who can carry out some of the duties of a professional minister.

We look forward to embarking on this journey together.

Warmly and in fellowship,
Rev. Marti Keller
