Yoga, Pilates, and Qigong at AUUF and online!

Thanks to AUUF members Pam Wiggins and Kitty Frey and the rest of the team from BeWell Services, (www.bewell.farm) you have multiple opportunities to practice yoga and qigong! Yoga and qigong are ancient mind–body practices used in the East for thousands of years to promote inner peace and mental clarity and offer a wide range of physical benefits.

In person:
Tuesdays @ 4pm in the AUUF Fellowship Hall- Chair Yoga– Chair yoga uses the chair as a prop for movement sequences. The class begins sitting in the chair with stretches. Props are used to enhance movement control, resistance, and alignment. Optional standing postures are used to strengthen the legs, gain balance and range of motion. The final portion of the class is in the chair for breath practice and relaxation. 
Tuesdays @ 5pm in the AUUF Fellowship Hall- Yoga– Unwind and strengthen your body and mind in this dynamic Hatha yoga class! This unique 60-minute session incorporates a variety of traditional poses, ensuring a fresh and engaging experience every time. The instructors- Danielle, Jan, Lisa, and Pam- will guide you through a carefully sequenced flow designed to target all major muscle groups, improving your strength and flexibility.
1st Saturdays Feb-May @8:30am- Restorative Yoga Workshop in the AUUF Fellowship Hall (followed by a meditation class if you’re interested!) Restorative yoga is a gentle practice that uses props to support the body in positions of ease and comfort, promoting deep relaxation and overall health. This supportive practice allows you to fully release tension and find peaceful restoration. Required Props: Please bring the following items to each session: 1 yoga mat, 1 rectangular bolster, 2 yoga blocks, 1 yoga strap, eye covering (hand towel or eye pillow), 2 blankets. Wednesdays @ 7amPilates– This 60-minute Pilates Mat class is an exercise and movement system designed to strengthen and lengthen the entire body, with a particular focus on core muscles. In addition to core strength, Pilates offers a range of benefits, including improved posture, better coordination and balance, increased body awareness, and enhanced concentration and focus.  Each month, we introduce a designated prop to our sessions (optional), allowing participants to deepen their practice and explore new challenges.
Wednesdays @ 5:15pm- Qigong- This class features movements and practices specifically attuned to the Winter season. The flowing movements and mindful breathing in Qigong are designed to improve the flow of qi (energy) throughout the body, enhance physical and mental well-being, reduce stress, and promote balance and harmony. While most exercises are performed standing, a chair and rolled bath towel may be used in some class.
Thursday @ 5:30pm- Yoga- This is a one-hour online yoga class that utilizes a variety of Hatha yoga postures as well as other techniques to provide a whole-body experience.   A yoga mat and additional props are recommended but not necessary to join the class.  Blocks, straps, bolsters blankets and a chair are always good to have near your mat.
