6:30 pm: Settle in for a soulful evening of shared meals, vibrant music, and meaningful connection as we learn more about Rising Gardens’ journey, progress, and vision for improving food access and creating vibrant collective spaces. Live Music will be brought to you by Alabama artists Zephyr Embers and Jerald Crook. The Gourmet Grub will be a special multi-course dinner crafted by brothers Patrick and Harrison Davis, two chefs whose passion for food is matched only by their love of community.

The People:
Dawud Jahi is a raw food specialist, artist, and co-founder of Rawsoulicious Sunflowerwell Farm, a raw vegan farm he runs with his wife Cheryl. As a passionate plantatarian and farmer, Dawud brings fresh, healing food to life—also through his catering business, Jahi’s Sunflowerwell. His creativity extends beyond the kitchen: Dawud sculpts with bananas, weaves natural fibers, and paints vivid works inspired by nature and spirit. A true inspirationalist, he blends food, art, and community to nourish both body and soul.

Jerald Crook is a musician, and founding director at Higher Ground Society (https://www.highergroundsociety.org, Higher Ground Society. Higher Ground Society seeks to enable creative expression, forge cross-cultural understanding and unity, and stimulate rigorous civic activism in one of our nation’s most important units–small communities.
Chef Patrick Davis (Fairhope, AL) is a master at blending Southern tradition with global flavors. As the Chef-Owner of Home Eats Catering, Porch Smoke Snack Co., and Mystic Catering & Events, Patrick has worked in some of Alabama’s most celebrated kitchens, including Fisher’s (Orange Beach), Mafia’s Ristorante, and Vintage 2298 under Chef Randall Baldwin. Trained in European techniques and inspired by Creole, Caribbean, South American, and East Asian cuisines, Patrick creates dishes that are both inventive and deeply rooted in the Gulf Coast culinary heritage. He also shares his craft weekly on Fox 10 WALA’s “Studio Ten.”
Chef Harrison Davis, currently Executive Sous Chef at Olivine, brings his own flair for innovation, honed in kitchens such as Ma Fia’s Ristorante, Butcher Paper BBQ, Vintage 2298, and SpringHouse. His approach balances creativity with the warmth and hospitality of Southern cooking, making him the perfect partner in this culinary experience.Together, the Davis brothers will craft a meal that not only delights the palate but also tells a story of community, care, and connection. Each dish reflects their love for local ingredients, shared traditions, and the joy of gathering around a table.
