Be Wellness Services (BeWell) offers two classes every Tuesday in the beautiful, historic Sanctuary. Chair Yoga is held from 4:00 to 5:00 pm, followed by a Classic Hatha Yoga class at 5:30 pm, both taught by certified, experienced instructors. Classes are donation-based, with contributions benefiting AUUF and BeWell. Reserve your space at bewell.farm (preferred but not required). Participants must complete a mandatory informed consent form before attending their first class. This can be done either in person or online. Please indicate any physical limitations or concerns on the form and/or to the instructor. Enter through the side door at the back of the Sanctuary and please arrive on time, as doors lock promptly at 5:40 pm.
Chair Yoga: This class offers a variety of seated and standing movements using the chair for support. Focus is placed on breath, alignment, strength, flexibility, balance, and relaxation. Yoga sequences cover a wide range of motion and full-body strength. Props are available to enhance poses and exercises. Wear comfortable clothing; shoes can be worn or removed. Bring water; yoga mats are optional.
Classic Hatha Yoga: This one-hour session includes a blend of yoga postures and fluid movements that warm, strengthen, and relax both mind and body. Emphasis is on breath, alignment, and balance. Our four certified instructors rotate weekly, each bringing their unique creativity focused on a monthly theme and refining a few key postures. Please wear comfortable clothing and bring your own yoga mat, blocks, strap, and any necessary props (though mats and props are available if you forget). Note that this class is not suitable for those recovering from recent medical events or individuals who have difficulty getting up from and down to the floor.
