June 2023 Touchstones: Ritual

Our June Touchstones theme is “Ritual.” Ritual preserves and renews tradition, conveys values, makes meaning, draws on deep springs, evokes feelings, goes beyond words, connects past and future in the present, and gives cause for hope. It can both contribute to and symbolize regeneration. Walter Miller writes, “Generation, regeneration, again, again, as in a ritual….” In the wheel of the year, ritual marks time and makes it sacred, holidays and holy days. In the arc of a life, ritual can be as simple as a birthday party or as momentous as a rite of passage marking birth, marriage, death, and more. Ritual is an artistic undertaking that utilizes story, poetry, music, and more. Done well, it is a shelter and a pathway, a blessing conferring holiness and wholeness.

Join us during the month of June as we explore the theme of Ritual!
