Our October Touchstones theme is “Awe.” Consider walking the Trail of 100 Giants in the Giant Sequoia National Monument, standing at Mather Point on the South Rim of the Grand Canyon, looking up from the Maid of the Mist at Niagara Falls as 600,000 gallons of water crash down every second, or just gazing at an infant’s face as she falls asleep in her crib. Our response to these and countless other experiences throughout our lives is the emotion called awe.
